2017 Porsche 911 GT3 facelift spotted undisguised.

The 2017 car will also get a revised front end, with more aggressive air intakes in the front bumper, a redesigned front spoiler, air intakes and new LED indicators, along with a new diffuser at the rear.

The rest of the car’s styling looks to be largely carried over from the current model, including the slit grilles at the front and back, large rear wing and central twin exhausts.

911 GT3 were leaked onto a Dutch blog (shown in the gallery). The test car looks to have the same exterior as the CGI car, suggesting the leaked images were accurate.

Other changes to the facelifted 911 GT3 will include a manual gearbox option for the first time since production of the 997 911 GT3 ended in 2011. GT3 guru Andreas Preuninger confirmed the option of a six-speed manual gearbox at the launch of the 911 R earlier this year. The GT3's 'box will be identical to that car's.

Despite the rest of the 911 range now being turbocharged for added efficiency and reduced emissions, the facelifted car will maintain the naturally aspirated 3.8-litre engine of the current generation GT3.

The current 911 GT3 pumps out 468bhp and 324lb ft which, combined with its 1430kg kerb weight, equates to a 0-62mph sprint of just 3.5sec and a top speed of 196mph.

The model, which looks set to become the most extreme production 911 yet, still appears to be wearing a mixture of other GT3 and GT3 RS bodywork, while benefiting from a larger rear wing and race-style winglets on the front bumper.

But since it was last sighted in June, the mule's wheel arches have recieved extensive modification. The changes to the latest mule can be seen in the pictures above and immediately below, and the original mule is shown in the bottom image.

Although these modifications might only be used as part of testing, they suggest the GT2 RS could do away with the GT3 RS's vents and adopt a completely different aerodynamic design.

One thing that hasn't changed since the last sighting is the fitment of a pair of enlarged rear intakes. These have convinced our sources that the car is running the most powerful flat six engine to make production in a Porsche.

The GT3 RS produces 493bhp from its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six engine, but we expect the GT2 RS to offer close to 700bhp thanks to forced induction. It will be the hottest 911 model on sale.

Porsche’s latest limited-run 911 models, including the 911 R, have been based on the first generation of the 991-series of the 911. But the earlier sighting of this mule showed it was running second-generation rear lights, which backs up comments made last year by Porsche’s high performance boss, Andreas Preuninger, that the GT2 RS would be based on the second-generation 991 and arrive at the end of the 911’s production life.

The last Porsche 911 GT2 RS was based on the 997-series model. It offered 611bhp from its twin-turbo flat six engine in a package weighing just 1370kg. It is widely regarded as the most extreme 911 to have gone on general sale.
